2 weeks remain until the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics officially begins and currently at least, there seems to be nothing good in the latest news related to it. Just recently, German TV crews were robbed of their Olympic transmission equipment along Rio’s main highway by armed robbers. An Olympic sport venue has a beach nearby where mutilated human remains were discovered. A security vacuum has resulted in an approximately 45% rise in robberies in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Regardless of whether or not the Summer Olympics actually does take place, Nike is ready to drop this Air Foamposite One later this month.
A state of calamity was declared last year by the governor of the Brazilian seaside city, apparently because no funds were available for hospitals and other such basic services. The outbreak of the Zika virus in the city is another problem. Furthermore, the political scenario of Brazil has been in a crisis too, resulting in the suspension of Dilma Rousseff, the country’s president. During this year’s Summer Olympics, she will be tried for impeachment. Despite all these bad occurrences, it does not seem and is very unlikely that the Summer Games will be cancelled or postpones.
Hence it makes perfect sense for Nike to be prepared and pay homage to the 2016 Summer Olympics. A majority of the foam shell uppers of this sneaker are dressed up in pure White, while the eyestays, heels, inner booties and tongues are all covered in Blue. Finally, a Red hue covers the inner lining. The combination of these three colors gives this sneaker quite a patriotic appearance and this is likely in support of Team USA. Last but not least, this sneaker is also equipped with icy, blue outsoles. Metallic Gold accents can also be spotted in the form of aglets, the Nike Swoosh near the toes, the One Cent logo on the heels, and the stripe on the tongues. While the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics do not begin until August, this Nike Air Foamposite One “Olympic” is scheduled to hit shelves on July 22nd and retail at a price of $250.
