While the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games have yet to officially begin, some of the competition is already in progress. The opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympic Games is scheduled to take place on August 6th. When compared to the London 2012 Summer Olympics, approximately twelve times less money is being spent on this year’s Olympic Games, so it is hard to predict how much of an extravaganza the ceremonies will be. Of course, this should not undermine adidas from commemorating the Olympics, considering that the Three Stripes have already whipped up an Ultra Boost “Olympic Medals” Pack consisting of three different colorways.
Considering that the Amazon rainforest is in Brazil, the overall theme of the 2016 Olympic Games will likely be influenced by the country’s environment. Despite the smaller budget, it is being expected that this year’s Olympic opening ceremony will still be a spectacle, featuring Brazil’s annual carnival and samba. Rumor has it that Gisele Bundchen, the Brazilian actress and fashion model, will also be involved in this year’s Olympics in some unknown way. Pelé, the legendary retired Brazilian professional footballer, was requested to light the Olympic torch but it is uncertain whether or not he will be able to attend.
Better late than never, it seems that adidas has finally hopped on board the Olympic festivities and it is certainly about time. Their brand new “Olympic Medals” Pack comprises of three brand new Ultra Boost iterations that are themed after the three different medals that are awarded during the Olympic Games. These three sneakers are identical as far as their predominantly Black-colored Primeknit uppers are concerned. However, their aglets, heel counters and tongue branding are covered in gold, silver and bronze, respectively.
Apparently, quite a few celebrities will also be present during the 2016 Olympic Opening ceremony. However, the adidas seems to be scheduled to arrive at retailers a couple of days prior to the Closing ceremony, on August 17th, and each pair will retail at a price of $180.
