Russian fashion designer Gosha Rubchinskiy made his second SS18 drop last month in collaboration with Dover Street Market. This drop included apparel and footwear items from Gosha’s own collection. He also collaborated with adidas to whip up some football-inspired sneakers, which were also a part of the drop. These included the adidas Nemeziz and three colorways of the adidas Copa Super. The apparel included tie-dyed graphic hoodies, long-sleeved t-shirts, sweatpants and tops, all of which appeared to have been inspired by the 90s era. Now, adidas and Gosha Rubchinskiy have teamed up once again to whip up two brand new, special colorways of the Copa trainer.
In addition to being a fashion designer, Gosha also happens to be a filmmaker and photographer. He launched the fashion line, which is named after him, back in 2008. He draws inspiration from and is influenced by the fall of the culture of Russian streets and youth, and the fall of the Iron Curtain. Thus, he borrows iconography from his home country and incorporates it into his collections. Last month, Gosha also teamed up with Retrosuperfuture, an Italian brand of contemporary glasses and sunglasses, for some Spring/Summer 2018 frames. By now, it must be obvious that this is not the first time he has collaborated with addias.
Considering that the adidas Copa is a training model, it was designed with performance and training in mind. However, this latest collaboration with Gosha Rubchinskiy has resulted in transforming the famous silhouette to quite an extent; granting it a lifestyle appeal and making it look stylish. Designed for the Fall season, the uppers of these two iterations are made up of suede, with one dressed up in Rich Green with Neon Pink-colored accents and the other in Dark Red with Neon Yellow-colored accents. They are also equipped with all-White midsoles and Gum Rubber outsoles.
adidas and Gosha Rubchinskiy have previously also released colorways of the Copa, but they did not feature such eye-catching hues. Sneakerheads can grab a pair of both or either colorway by at Notre-shop.
