Currently, the NMD, Ultra Boost and Ultra Boost Uncaged are three of adidas’ foremost and leading models that have been taking the sneaker community by storm. Not to mention, avid collectors of adidas footwear also have their eyes glued on whatever new Yeezy Boost the Three Stripes intends to drop next. However, prior to the era of the NMD, it was the adidas Tubular and hybrids of the silhouette that had a similar effect on sneakerheads, creating tremendous buzz. On such hybrid of the model is the adidas Tubular X Primeknit and the Three Stripes have just dropped a brand new colorway of it.
Despite not being associated with Kanye West, the Tubular is an ideal example of adidas’ innovative vision for the future while also providing a look back at the brand’s history. The inspiration for the Tubular came from the 90’s adidas running line. Decades ago, it was simply not possible for adidas to whip up sneakers of this kind, so the Tubular somewhat reflects that as well. Nic Galway, adidas Originals’ VP of Global Design, had to dig deep into the brand’s archives and draw inspiration from prototypes that have never been created and released.
The adidas Tubular line is still as popular as ever and there are plenty of sneakerheads who are still die hard aficionados of it. Even the Tubular X Primeknit is equally revered as much as the original silhouette and its other hybrids. The Primeknit uppers of this sneaker are predominantly dressed up in Scarlet Red. The ankles and heel counters have suede overlays wrapped around them, which extends towards the upper eyelets. This sneaker would be entirely dressed up in the Scarlet Red hue if it was not for the fact that the front halves of its midsoles are covered in white, adding a contrasting touch.
Considering that summer is underway, adidas must have certainly designed this sneaker keeping the current season in mind and it is indeed eye-catching. Since this adidas Tubular X Primeknit “Scarlet Red” has already hit the shelves, a pair can be copped right away at a price of $160.
