Adidas’ “Iridescent” Pack Incorporates XENO Into D Rose 6 & D Lillard 1

Through 2015 adidas has been picking and choosing original silhouettes that have been receiving the XENO treatment, i.e. being dressed up in the iridescent reflect material. It was only a matter of time until adidas decide to incorporate the vibrant XENO material into their performance models as well. In fact, this time around the XENO material has been used on not one but two adidas Basketball models, namely the D Rose 6 and the D Lillard 1. The adidas release 2015 of both sneakers is scheduled to take place simultaneously since they are part of the brand’s “XENO Iridescent” Pack.

adidas-Iridescent-Pack-RegularIt was back in February this year when adidas introduced the XENO technology, which is basically an innovative material that responds to light by changing color. In a way, this material literally “lights up” and the inspiration came from the 2015 NBA All-Star Game. The inspiration behind and name of the material comes from Xenopeltis snakes found in South East Asia that have iridescent scales. After plenty of testing, adidas ultimately ended up inventing a brand new material that happens to be light-reflective. Manufacturing the XENO material was equally challenging but adidas managed to accomplish that with each original model they incorporated the material into.

At first glance the XENO renditions of the D Rose 6 and the D Lillard 1 may appear just like ordinary all-Black versions of the two models at first glance. However, the iridescent, rainbow colored nature of these kicks will truly become evident once light strikes them. The uppers of these sneakers feature XENO detailing all over. These sneakers are apparently inspired by predators that hunt in the night, with the reflect XENO material symbolizing the iridescent eyes of the predator.

No wonder this latest adidas collection has been dubbed the “Iridescent” Pack. As a part of this pack, the adidas release of both the D Rose 6 and the D Rose 6 will take place on November 27th, both online and at retail stores.
