Among next month’s Air Jordan releases 2019 will be a WMNS iteration of the Air Jordan 1 High inspired by Shoe Palace’s leading customer. When it comes to designing brand new colorways of the very first Air Jordan model Michael Jordan rocked on an NBA court, Jordan Brand has usually drawn inspiration from his historic and storied past. Of course, that is not always the case, especially when it comes to WMNS colorways, such as those from the “Pastel” Pack and the Prem “Dipped” Pack. Last year, Jordan Brand even collaborated to release the luxurious Air Jordan 1 “Viotech” that featured removable fur tongues.
Within the modern day sneaker community, Shoe Palace is recognized as one of the most reliable American athletic apparel/footwear retail chains. Prior to establishing an online presence and expanding with a series of immensely popular stores, Shoe Palace started out as a small, family-owned and -operated business. On their website, Shoe Palace refers to its customers as “chic and fanatical” about apparel and footwear. One such customer is Gina, whose Instagram username is @spginagotgame and her sneaker game really is quite strong. Gina happens to be an avid, senior sneakerhead who has been shopping for kicks at Shoe Palace for quite a long time.
Inspired by Gina’s love for sneakers and commitment to shop from Shoe Palace, Jordan Brand designed the Air Jordan 1 colorway you see here and borrowed its nickname from her Instagram username. As you can see, this is no ordinary iteration since its all-Black glittering uppers are made up of a ballistic mesh-like material with a leather “Wings” logo on each side and other tonal branding. Moreover, Varsity Red appears over its entire outsoles and the “Nike Air” branding on its tongue tabs, while Gina’s face is printed over the insoles. While a release date has not been confirmed, it will be joining next month’s Air Jordan releases 2019.
