Most sneakerheads, including you, will probably agree that one of foremost distinguishing characteristics of the Air Jordan 1 is the Nike “Swoosh” logo that generally appears on the sides. Many of you could probably not even imagine the Air Jordan 1 without the “Swoosh.” Sneakerheads got to experience just that when Jordan Brand introduced the Air Jordan 1 Low No Swoosh in three different colorways. Each colorway made its retail debut back in May 2016 for $150. After last year’s “Black Python,” “Ice Blue,” “Legion Green” and “Off-White” colorways, a brand new and somewhat premium No Swoosh iteration will be joining this Fall’s upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018.
As you may have noticed, more than half of the uppers of this Air Jordan 1 Low No Swoosh iteration are covered in pony hair. Of course, this is not the first time Jordan Brand has experimented with using pony hair on one of their signature sneaker models. In fact, the color scheme and the construction of this particular iteration perhaps remind you of the Air Jordan 4 “Pony Hair,” which was a part of Jordan Brand’s Pinnacle series of the model. The Air Jordan 4 “Pony Hair” made its retail debut two years ago on April 9th, 2016 at a whopping price of $400.
Like previous Air Jordan 1 Low No Swoosh colorways, this upcoming one also sports a tonal look with completely Black-colored uppers that are made up of premium tumbled leather and shaggy pony hair. The Air Jordan “Wings” branding and the “Nike Air” logo appears to be debosed into the leather on the tongues and heels. Additionally, its plain Sail-colored midsoles and outsoles add some contrast. This premium Air Jordan 1 Low No Swoosh iteration, which is a women’s release, is currently only available in Japan at retailers like Yamaotoko Footgear at a price of ¥15,000. However, it will hopefully join upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018 in the U.S. too.
