Clean and simple yet eye-catching are three words that can best describe Jordan Brand’s Air Jordan 1 Metallic releases. It was back in 1985 that Jordan Brand that Jordan Brand originally released these seemingly plain-looking Air Jordan 1 colorways, which featured metallic detailing in a variety of different colors. At that time, Jordan Brand had actually dropped quite a number of these “Metallic” colorways. Over the recent years, some of them have ended up receiving the retro treatment while others have not. For instance, 2017 is now set to mark the second return of the Air Jordan 1 OG “Metallic Red” since it made a comeback once before.
The Air Jordan 1 “Metallic Red” actually received the retro treatment for the very first time back in 2009 when it was a part of Jordan Brand’s “Do The Right Thing” Pack. That pack also included another another Metallic iteration that received the retro treatment, it was the Air Jordan 1 “Metallic Green.” Back in 2012, a pair of the original Air Jordan 1 “Metallic Orange” had also surfaced on eBay, although that colorway has not officially received the retro treatment. Just last year back in May 2016, even the Air Jordan 1 “Metallic Navy” made a comeback for the very first time in retro form.
While many sneakerheads are glad they are getting another chance to cop the Air Jordan 1 “Metallic Red,” others are probably wondering why Jordan Brand did not bring back some other OG Metallic colorway. Nonetheless, this year’s version can be regarded as more of a remastered one and will probably be closer to the original than perhaps the 2009 one. Of course, it will still have the same clean White-colored premium leather uppers while the accentuating Metallic Varsity Red hue will appear over its ankles, Jordan “Wings” branding, Nike “Swoosh” logo and its outsoles. Additionally though, its tongues will also feature the OG “Nike Air” branding.”
Coincidentally, the return of this sneaker is set for the same month that the Air Jordan 1 Retro “Metallic Navy” once again arrived at retailers last year. This Air Jordan 1 OG “Metallic Red” will be reportedly be joining May’s Jordan releases 2017 and it will reportedly retail for $160.
