Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Royal”-1

The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Royal” Returns On April’s Fool Day

Sneakerheads may not realize this but the color blue was invented in relatively modern times and it did not exist during the prehistoric era. Cave paintings did not feature any traces of azure or cerulean. Historic texts, from those of the ancient Greeks to those of the ancient Chinese, contain no references to the color blue nor did they have a word for it. Over the centuries though, blue has become the most sacred and sought after after color, frequently associated with royalty. This returning colorway of the original Air Jordan 1 High was nicknamed after such a shade of blue, which is the reason it was dubbed “Royal Blue.”

Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Royal”-2The ancient Egyptians were the only ones to not only have a word for blue as a part of their culture, but even have a blue dye. If sneakerheads think about it, blue is not a very common hue in nature. The Egyptians first came across the color after unearthing the semi-precious stone, lapis lazuli. Blue, especially azures and royal blues, remained the color of the divine and the rich for quite a long time. Today though, blue can be seen just about everywhere in a variety of shades, from the sea and the sky to the uniforms of the navy.

The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Royal” could very well end up being the biggest Air Jordan retro release of the entire year and even among April’s Jordan releases 2017. Not only is it one of the best colorways of the Air Jordan 1, it is also the most sought after by sneakerheads. Thus, the release of this sneaker will be as big as that of the recent Air Jordan 1 “Banned” and it even sports a similar color blocking. Overall, its uppers are dressed up in a combination of Black and Royal Blue, while it is equipped with contrasting White-colored midsoles and matching Royal Blue-colored outsoles.

Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Royal”-3The return of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Royal” is scheduled to take place on April 1st, but that does not mean it is an April’s Fool joke. Sneakerheads will be able to cop a pair of this sneaker at a price of $160 because it will indeed make its comeback next month.
