The Air Jordan 13 was among the final models that Michael Jordan had worn on the court during the final season that he had participated in as a member of the Chicago Bulls. It was back in 1997 when the Air Jordan 13 had made its original debut. Jordan Brand had dropped a total of seven Air Jordan 13 colorways, five of its regular high-top version and two of its low-top variation. The two original colorways of the Air Jordan 13 Low had been the “Chutney” and “Navy,” and as far back as December 2015, a rumor had surfaced hinting the comeback of one of them.
Back in 1998, Denzel Washington’s character had also worn the Air Jordan 13 in Spike Lee’s sports drama film, He Got Game. In fact, that version has also been the inspiration behind the “Black Toe” colorway of the model that Jordan Brand had dropped back in 2013. It was not until late 2004 that the Air Jordan 13 received the retro treatment for the very first time and this continued until summer 2005. While a few original colorways of the Air Jordan 13 have returned over the years, the “Chutney” iteration had never hit the shelves ever since 1997, but that will apparently change in 2017.
As rumored back in December 2015, it seems that the Air Jordan 13 Low “Chutney” will indeed among Jordan releases 2017. While the Air Jordan 13 Low is known for being one of Jordan Brand’s most street-savvy models, the “Chutney” colorway probably best fits that description. Unlike the earlier rumors, the sneaker will not be arriving at retailers in 2016, but it is indeed returning and will finally make its highly-awaited comeback next year. Considering that low-top variation of the Air Jordan 13 had astonishingly looked better than the high-top one, it is not surprising that this Black and Gold rendition of the silhouette had turned out to become so popular.
Back in December 2015, the Air Jordan 13 Low “Chutney” had been spotted in a photo with the Air Jordan 5 OG “Black Metallic” that had arrived at retailers last year. The latest news comes from Ajordanxi.com, although the photo featured above is not a latest one.
