Among the OG colorways of the Air Jordan 13 that have been added to the lineup of Jordan releases 2017 is the “Flint” iteration. Originally known as the Air Jordan 13 “Flints,” the colorway got its nickname from the Flint Grey hue that is a part of its “Navy / Carolina Blue – Flint Grey – White” color scheme. Jordan Brand had originally dropped the Air Jordan 13 “Flints” on February 14th, 1998 and it retailed at a price of $150. The sneaker will once again be hitting the shelves after seven years, but 2017’s Air Jordan 13 “Flint” can be regarded as a remastered retro.
The Flint Grey hue itself gets its name from the color of a kind of sedimentary rock that is also called chert, but it is otherwise simply known as flint. At one time, basic tools, such as knives and the tips of spears, were made from flint. Striking flint against hardened steel can also produce fire and it is used for this purpose by campers and people spending time in the great outdoors. Usually, flint appears to be black- or dark grey-colored, which is the reason there is a hue named Flint Grey. However, it may also appear in a combination of maroon, tan, white and/or yellow shades.
Like the original, this year’s version of the Air Jordan 13 “Flint” will have uppers featuring a color combination of Blue, Grey and White. A large portion of this sneaker is clean White. The most eye-catching and head-turning feature of this sneaker will likely be the fact that its Blue-colored areas will glimmer under light because of the 3M reflective material underlying them. IT will also be equipped with Dark Grey-colored outsoles that have plain White inserts featuring a modified herringbone pattern. Of course, the model’s signature circular holographic branding is also present.
After its original retail debut back in 1998, Jordan Brand dropped this sneaker in retro form twice again, in 2005 and then in 2010. The date for the arrival of this year’s Air Jordan 13 “Fligt” release has not been confirmed yet, but it will reportedly be among the Labor Day Weekend’s Jordan releases 2017, probably hitting the shelves on September 2nd.
