Rumors about the official 2017 return of one of the rarest Air Jordan 4 colorways had begun circulating ever since August 2016. It was Dino Hatfield (@baltsneakershow) who had tweeted that Jordan Brand was planning to bring back the Air Jordan 4 “Motorsports” in 2017. For sneakerheads who do not know, Jordan Brand had whipped up this iteration back in 2006 around the time the AIr Jordan 4 “Mars” had been dropped. The Air Jordan 4 “Motorsports” even slightly resembles the “Mars” rendition. It was already being rumored that this sneaker would be among the Spring Jordan releases 2017, but now an unofficial release date has surfaced.
Michael Jordan actually had his own Motorsports racing team at that time. Not only had this Air Jordan 4 colorway been inspired by it, only members of that team had received a pair each of this sneaker. Even when compared to Jordan Brand’s family and friends exclusives, these were considerably rarer. Many collectors directly wanted to add a pair to their collection, and some even went as far as spending outrageous sums of money whenever a pair emerged for sale. So, this will actually be the first time that everyday sneakerheads will be able to cop a pair upon its official, general release by Jordan Brand next year.
Back in 2015, a pair of the original Air Jordan 4 “Motorsports” had been listed for sale at a whopping price of $30,000. Just like the original and somewhat like the “Mars” colorway, next year’s edition will once again feature plain White-colored leather uppers that will be covered in contrasting Black- and Blue-colored detailing throughout. However, it is being reported that the 2017 version might not feature the Mars Blackmon branding on each heel. Jordan Brand has actually not confirmed any release details about this highly-anticipated sneaker yet. However, the fact that March 26th is being rumored as its release date and it may end up selling for $190.
