The Air Jordan 8 “Bugs Bunny” was one of the top ten sneakers of April 2013. Despite being dubbed “Bugs Bunny,” it was actually a retro colorway that had arrived at retailers twice before and was simply known as the Air Jordan 8 Retro “White / Black – True Red.” Jordan Brand had originally dropped the Air Jordan 8 Retro “White / Black – True Red” on March 1st, 2003 and it retailed at a price of $135. This sneaker arrived at retailers once again as a part of 2008’s Countdown Package. This brand new Air Jordan 8 colorway featured here probably reminds sneakerheads of that Bugs Bunny-themed iteration.
However, the Air Jordan 8 colorway seen is actually not Bugs Bunny-themed, rather it is an “Alternate” iteration of the model. Jordan Brand may or may not be planning for an entire collection, but it is certainly one of their two “Alternate” Jordan releases 2017, the other being the Air Jordan 6 “Alternate.” Last year, an “Alternate” Collection of among one of Jordan Brand’s three Spring 2016 Legacy Shoe Collections. The premise of the “Alternate” Collection was supposed to be a collection of coveted sample Air Jordan colorways that Michael Jordan had once worn on the court but they had never made their way to retailers.
Perhaps Jordan Brand has plans for a similar collection for 2017 or maybe not. Regardless, for now it seems that this will be one of two Alternate-themed sneakers from Jordan Brand that will hit the shelves this year. Resembling the “Bugs Bunny” colorway, the Air Jordan 8 “Alternate” featured here perforated leather uppers that are predominantly clean White. Contrasting Black- and Red-colored detailing appear throughout its uppers, while it is also equipped with graphic inner linings and the pull tabs have “1993” printed on them.
Sneakerheads should also know that this is not the only Air Jordan 8 release of 2017, the other being the one from the “Take Flight” Pack, while Jordan Brand may drop more later this year. Nonetheless, the arrival of the Air Jordan 8 “Alternate” at retailers has already been confirmed for February 25th, 2017, but there has been no news of a potential retail price.
