This Alternate Bulls Jersey Could Be Paired With 2017’s Jordan 12 Low “Playoff”

Many sneakerheads reading this are probably familiar with the classic and highly coveted Air Jordan 12 “Taxi.” Both basketball athletes and sneakerheads quickly grew fond of the sneaker when it had made its original retail debut back in November 1996 because of its basic and simple design. The colorway was dubbed “Taxi” because a Black- and Yellow-colored portion can be spotted on the arch areas and outsoles, which was inspired by taxicabs of New York City. The sneaker also received the retro treatment back in 2008 and 2013. Sneakerheads who already own a pair of the Air Jordan 12 “Taxi” could now pair it with the jersey seen here.

air-jordan-12-low-playoff-2The collaboration between Michael Jordan and Mitchell & Ness continues in style with the return of something that is not footwear but has still been admired by sneakerheads. It is none other than the alternate Black-colored pinstriped Chicago Bulls jersey that Michael Jordan had worn back during the 1996–97 NBA season. Back in the 1990s, a trend had developed to add pinstripes onto basketball uniforms, which is the reason the Bulls iconic alternate jersey featured the Red-colored stripes. The replica seen here from Mitchell & Ness does its best to be almost perfectly identical to the jerseys from back in the 1996 and 1997.

The year 1997 had also marked the 50th anniversary of the NBA, which was when this jersey had been introduced as an alternative to the Red, Blue and White color scheme of the traditional Bulls jerseys. Throughout the 1996–97 NBA season during which this alternate jersey had been worn, Michael Jordan would be frequently wearing the Air Jordan 12 “Taxi” and “Varsity Red.” Thus, it has become one of the most distinguished jerseys in the entire NBA and this replica version is available from the Mitchell & Ness flagship store and the NBA Store at a price of $300.

However, even if those sneakers are not a part of their collection, this jersey would also go well with the Air Jordan 12 Low “Playoff,” which is scheduled to be among the Jordan releases 2017.
