Back in October 2014, Damian Lillard re-signed with adidas and later revealed that he was receiving his very first signature sneaker model. It was actually not surprising; rather it was bound to happen eventually, considering that he is one of the NBA’s leading point guards. It was not until 2015 that the D Lillard 1 was officially unveiled by adidas Hoops. Its most prominent features included flexible tech fit uppers, marbled outsoles, neoprene sock liners, and perforations all over for ventilation. The Dame 4, Damian’s fourth signature sneaker debuted last year and its latest colorway is now on its way to retailers.
As mentioned, the adidas Dame 4 made its retail debut in not one but two different colorways of October 6th, 2017. The signature tech features of the Dame 4 included Bounce cushioning, mesh uppers and a looped lacing system. One was dubbed “Rip City” and the other “Un-Dyed.” The “Rip City” colorway was dressed up in the team colors of the Portland Trail Blazers, namely Black, Red and White, which appeared over the soles as well. The uppers of the “Un-Dyed” colorway were dressed up in a Cream hue and were paired with Gum Rubber soles.
The latest colorway of the adidas Dame 4, which will soon be hitting the shelves, is simply being referred to as “Red Gum” and it can be clearly seen why. It can be regarded as quite a bold and eye-catching iteration, considering that both its mesh uppers and midsoles are both covered in a bright Red hue. The inclusion of Gum Rubber soles adds a contrasting finishing touch. Additionally, some Black-colored detailing is also visible, such as the lace loops.
Considering that the 2018 NBA playoffs are approaching and the Trail Blazers are looking forward to making their mark, a colorway like this makes sense. This adidas Dame 4 “Red Gum” will make its retail debut on April 7th, 2018 at a price of $115.
