Back in September this year, David Creech discussed the future of Jordan Brand’s design philosophy for new and upcoming Air Jordan collections. Jordan Brand’s VP of Design admitted that they have a “huge team” of great designers who are aware that design must continue evolving as time passes on and “grow into new audiences.” You will probably agree that the Air Jordan 1 featured here is certainly a testament to the capabilities of Jordan Brand’s design team. However, it will not be joining upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018. Rather, it seems that Jordan Brand’s design team received an early Christmas present in the form of this Air Jordan 1.
David Creech revealed that Jordan Brand’s design team is now focusing on the future in order to “lead with innovation.” Apparently, Flight Utility will be leading Jordan Brand’s innovative plans for the future. In case you are wondering, Flight Utility technology was at the core of the Air Jordan 33 that made its retail debut not too long ago. The photos accompanying this post were shared on Instagram by one of Jordan Brand’s designers whose username is @macksam_. For the past four years, he was working at Nike Sportswear as a designer and started at Jordan Brand back in March.
This Air Jordan 1 is a completely brand new colorway, and as you can see in one of the photos above, it is for “Jordan Brand designers only!” It appears to be dressed up in a “Black Toe”-inspired color blocking with a Blue and Red gradient appears over its collar and heel overlays. Its midsoles appear to be plain White and its outsoles seem to be covered entirely in Blue. You can also see in one of the photos that the names of all Jordan Brand designers are featured on the insoles. Although it cannot be clearly seen, some kind of roman numerals can be spotted over the heels.
