Nike sneakerheads are no ordinary footwear, rather more than often they have high-tech scientific technology incorporated into them. Nike’s one such technology is the Engineered Mesh (EM). Not only does this lightweight mesh material happen to be impressively breathable, it also offers greater durability and flexibility than standard mesh. This innovative technology was introduced by Nike fairly recently, so it is not that old. As of now, the Kobe 11 is one of Nike’s models that has its very own low-top EM variation and its latest colorway, which has been dubbed the “Mambacurial,” is scheduled to arrive in the middle of this month.
The Engineered Mesh textile comprises of 90% tightly woven mesh, which ensures that the uppers of a sneaker silhouette offer a glove-like, snug fit to the wearer. Unlike standard mesh, Engineered Mesh also happens to be far more bendable and flexible. Furthermore, the reason it tends to be more breathable is because it contains more prominent perforations. Apart from the Kobe 11 EM Low, other Nike models like the Air Max 1, Air Max 95, Lunargliade+ 4 and Kobe 8 System have also received the Engineered Mesh treatment. Due to the light weight of this material, sneakers with uppers made up of it will be particularly comfortable when worn.
It is uncertain what Nike’s intention may have been behind dubbing this upcoming colorway “Mambacurial.” At least it seems like Kobe’s “Mamba” nickname has been meshed together with the name of the Mercurial soccer cleats, even though the Kobe 11 EM Low is essentially a basketball shoe. Regardless, this time it looks particularly street-savvy because of its flashy and vibrant color scheme, which gives it a lifestyle aesthetic. Its Engineered Mesh uppers are dressed up in a combination of Action Green, Pink Flash and Red Plum. “NIKE,” in large, White-colored font, is spelled out on the inner sides, while the outer ones feature Action Green-colored Nike Swoosh logo.
This sneaker head already been unveiled back on August 25th of this year and even its release date had been confirmed back then. So, all that remains now is for this Nike Kobe 11 EM Low “Mambacurial” to be up on retail at a price of $160 on September 15th.
