Fragment Design & NikeLab Collaborate Again On This Air Trainer SP “US Open”

The U.S. Open, one of the biggest tennis tournaments in the world, will be here in just a couple of weeks and it seems like Nike Sports is also preparing for it in their own way. In recent times, NikeLab has frequently collaborated with fragment design resulting in the creation of Air Jordan 1 iterations featuring a premium makeup. In anticipation of the U.S. Open and to do something special for the occasion, Nike and fragment design are teaming once again, so yet another premium Air Jordan 1 colorway can be expected to hit the shelves on one of the upcoming Nike release dates 2015.

Float-806942_441_E_PREM_square_1600It is actually not unusual for Nike to drop sneakers like these whenever tournaments such as this one are nearing. A few months ago, NikeCourt and Hiroshi Fujiwara teamed up to pay homage to the French Open and the trademark clay court surface where the matches take place during the event. This collaboration resulted in Paris-exclusive release of two Air Trainer 1 colorways. Near the end of June, Nike and fragment design teamed up once again to work, once again collaborating on the Nike Air Trainer 1, which led to the arrival of two green and white colorways of the tennis shoes. In fact, the Nike Air Trainer 1 is actually a cross-trainer that Nike athletes like Andre Agassi and John McEnroe have worn as a tennis shoe as well.

Now that the US Open is just around the corner, it is only natural that another Nike Air Trainer 1 collaboration with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design is on its way. Inspired by the tennis tournament itself, these two latest renditions of the Nike Air Trainer 1 sport an all-white and tonal navy blue makeup. One particular detail that these US Open versions will be featuring is the checkered logos on the tongue, which is associated with four-time US open winner, John McEnroe.
