Jordan Brand’s Newest Express Lifestyle Model Drew Inspiration From The Air Jordan 4

It is not exactly new for Jordan Brand to borrow elements from some of their most iconic models for their more latest, modern day lifestyle silhouettes. Earlier this year in January 2017, Jordan Brand introduced the Formula 23 model that was designed with inspiration drawn from the Air Jordan 10. In particular, the gore lace accents and upper webbing were borrowed from the Air Jordan 10. However, the Formula 23 is even more lightweight because of its midsoles containing Injected Phylon units and the rubber outsole cages it is equipped with. Apparently, Jordan Brand’s latest lifestyle model is arriving and it is inspired by the Air Jordan 4.

Jordan Express-2Jordan Brand had originally dropped the Air Jordan 4 back in 1989 in four different colors. After that, the silhouette did not arrive at retailers for the next ten years. Finally, it was in 1999 that the Air Jordan 4 received the retro treatment. That year, Jordan Brand brought back two of its OG “Cement” colorways. 1999 was also the year that Jordan Brand had introduced the Retro+ concept, so the classic silhouette hit the shelves in a number of brand new colorways as well. Over the recent years, the originals Air Jordan 4 colorways have been re-released many times, while plenty brand new ones have been introduced too.

As mentioned, Jordan Brand has done this many times before, and once again they drew inspiration from the past for their newest lifestyle model, the Jordan Express. It adds a modern twist to the brand’s classic aesthetics. Sneakerheads, who are well-versed when it comes to retro Air Jordan silhouettes, will be quick to notice the resemblance the Express bears to the Air Jordan 4. While its mesh uppers and foam midsoles are modern day features, its grid-mesh detailing and the lines visible over its midsoles have obviously been borrowed from the Air Jordan 4.

Jordan Express-3The Jordan Express is set to make its retail debut in three different colorways, namely a “Black/White, a “Red/Black/White,” and a “University Blue/White” one. While there has been no exact confirmation yet, these Jordan Express iterations will be joining upcoming Jordan releases 2017.
