No doubt, Chris Paul is one of the finest, pure point guards in the NBA today and Jordan Brand continues to upgrade his signature sneaker model so he may keep on dominating and enhancing his performance. Sneakerheads got their first look at Chris Paul’s Jordan CP3.X back in September 2016 when Gallery2.co.jp shared photos of the sneaker in two different colorways. Two months ago, his 11th signature sneaker debuted in a “Rocket Fuel” colorway and earlier this month, a Houston Rockets-themed colorway of the model was unveiled too. It seems that Jordan Brand has also whipped up an “Away” iteration that might be among upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018.
The CP3.X, specifically its design, was proof of Jordan Brand’s willingness to experiment. Its uppers were primarily made up of a breathable and lightweight, woven Jacquard material. Its sides were covered in an overlay made of synthetic material with a ribbed texture that gave it a finger print-like appearance. The lacing system was connected to the sides with Dynamic Flywire cables and it was equipped with icy, translucent outsoles. A large Jordan “Jumpman” logo also present over the side overlays. The Jordan CP3.X ended up making its retail debut on October 1st, 2016 in those two initial colorways, each of which retailed at a price of $125.
Following the end of the regular 2017–18 NBA season on April 11th, Chris Paul and the rest of his team are leading the way in the Western Conference. The debut “Rocket Fuel” colorway of the Jordan CP3.XI was a nod to the fact that Chris Paul and the Houston Rockets are relentlessly pursuing the NBA Championship this year. However, this latest colorway is dubbed “Away” because it borrows the hues from the team’s Away uniform. Hence, apart from being predominantly dressed up in Black, it also features Red- and Yellow-colored detailing throughout.
As you may already know, the 2018 NBA Playoffs already began on April 14th and you can expect this Jordan CP3.XI “Away” to make its retail debut before the playoff season ends. To find out whether or not it will end up joining upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018, keep checking back to SneakersDog.
