Back in November 2013, after a catalog photo got leaked online, news began spreading that Jordan Brand would be introducing their first running shoe, named the Jordan Flight Runner. After disappearing for a couple of months, the Flight Runner was eventually unveiled back in March 2014. A few months later that year, the Flight Runner finally made its retail debut on May 1st at a price of $110. As of now, Jordan Brand has an entire line of running shoes, which includes the Jordan Flight Runner 2 and 3. It now includes the second installment of the Jordan Grind and Jordan Brand officially unveiled it recently.
The Jordan Grind was a running and training shoe. Last year, it was a part of Derek Jeter’s “RE2PECT” Collection from Jordan Brand. Like the Air Jordan 1 Mid and the Jordan Hydro 6 Slide from the collection, the Jordan Grind was also dressed up in a Navy Blue and White color scheme inspired by the New York Yankees. This year’s earlier Air Jordan releases 2018 also included another colorway of the model. Dubbed “Ultramarine,” this iteration was based on an original Air Max 180 colorway of the same name from 1991. As of now, Jordan Brand’s running line also includes the Jordan Zoom Tenacity and Zoom Tenacity 88.
The Grind 2 featured here is Jordan Brand’s latest running shoe model. It is definitely not unusual for Jordan Brand’s running and training shoes to be inspired by some of the classic and iconic Air Jordan models of the past, and the same goes for the Grind 2. It draws a great deal of inspiration from the Air Jordan 5. The mesh netting on its uppers resembles the midfood mesh cages of the Air Jordan 5, it has the same tongues but they are flattened out, and its midsoles even featured “shark teeth” pattern that was inspired by P-51 Mustang fighter planes for the Air Jordan 5.
As can be seen, three colorways of Jordan Brand’s latest running shoe have already joined this month’s Air Jordan releases 2018. Each of these three Jordan Grind 2 colorways is currently available on Nike.com at a retail price of $115.
