In addition to kicking off last month’s Air Jordan releases 2018, Jordan Brand also unveiled a brand new model in the beginning of June. It is not every day that Jordan Brand introduces a brand new sneaker model, so the unveiling of this sneaker model was kind of surprising and unexpected. Dubbed the Jordan Max Aura, if it was not revealed that this is a genuine sneaker model from Jordan Brand, it could easily be mistaken for a bootleg, knock off hybrid of the Air Jordan 10 and the Air Jordan 11. That is not the case though because this Max Aura has indeed been designed by Jordan Brand.
Looking at the Jordan Max Aura, it does actually make sense why someone might assume that this model is a fake. Even though Jordan Brand is a subsidiary of Nike, the Air Jordan and Air Max line of sneakers have often been regarded as rivals, even in terms of fakes. However, perhaps the most fraudulent knock offs are the ones the combine the uppers of Jordan Brand’s models like the Air Jordan 8 or Air Jordan 11 with full-length Air Max soles. This is something that has not really been done before, at least not until now, as in the case of the Jordan Max Aura.
Actually unveiled last month, it has already joined this month’s Air Jordan releases 2018. The Max Aura was unveiled back in June in an almost “Bred” colorway and a “Triple Black” one. The former had tumbled leather uppers with textile underlays like the Air Jordan 10, while the latter had nubuck uppers. The Max Aura borrows the elastic midfoot bands of the Air Jordan 10 and the neoprene heel portions of the Air Jordan 11. It also features lacing strands inspired by both models and the heels of its soles contain an Air Max unit. Both colorways are currently available at Footlocker.com at a price of $120.
