As you likely know, Jordan Brand has been celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 3 this year. However, this celebration was not limited to merely bringing original Air Jordan 3 colorways in retro form and introducing brand new ones. On the contrary, Jordan Brand actually introduced a completely brand new running shoe that heavily drew inspiration from and was somewhat of a tribute to the Air Jordan 3. This running shoe was the Jordan Racer 88 that hit the shelves in several different Air Jordan 3 OG colorways. The latest colorway that joined the recent Air Jordan releases 2018 sports the University of Michigan color scheme.
One of the original colorways of the Air Jordan 3 that has already been replicated over the Jordan Racer 88 was the “White Cement.” Not too long ago, SoleFly and Jordan Brand teamed up again for another lottery-themed release inspired by the similar Air Jordan 3 iteration from 2014, but this time involving the Jordan Racer 88. Its uppers are breathable and comfortable because they are predominantly made up of a textile material, but they also feature synthetic overlays. Its soft cushion foam soles make it extremely lightweight and responsive. Since it is a running shoe, it offers extra grip thanks to grooved waffle patterns underneath its soles.
Jordan Brand and the University of Michigan signed a huge apparel deal and the Michigan Wolverines became the first football program to be sponsored by the brand. The Jordan Racer 88 iteration you see here is predominantly dressed up in the University of Michigan’s Collegiate Navy and Maize color scheme, while it also features matching elephant print overlays. The only hue that seems out of place is the Grey that makes a slight appearance too. Its midsoles are plain White and its outsoles are covered in a darker shade of Grey. Instead of “AIR,” the word “RUN” can be spotted on both of its heels.
As mentioned, this colorway has already joined the Air Jordan releases 2018 that recently made their retail debuts. Hence, you should be able to cop a pair at a price of just $100 from retailers like Shoe Palace.
