“Run to Fly.” This is part of the title of the news article about the Jordan Flight Runner that was posted back in March 2014. The Flight Runner was Jordan Brand’s first running shoe and as mentioned in the subtitle of that article, it was designed for “serving top-flight athletes.” The Jordan Flight Runner actually hit the shelves a two months later on May 1st, 2014 at select retailers and on Jordan.com, where it retailed at a price of $110. Jordan Brand’s line of men’s running shoes has grown and expanded to quite an extent since then, and the latest addition is the Racer 88 running shoe featured here.
The Backstory – The Jordan Zoom Tenacity 88
This Racer 88 that Jordan Brand has just introduced is quite similar to their Zoom Tenacity 88 running shoe that made its retail debut this year. As you may already know, this year marked the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 3, which was the source of inspiration behind the Zoom Tenacity 88. Justin Timberlake was actually the first to lace up in a pair this running shoe, which borrowed signature elements of the Air Jordan 3 like the elephant print overlays. On March 14th, the Zoom Tenacity 88 made its retail debut in the Air Jordan 3’s OG “Black/Cement” and “True Blue” colorways.
The Jordan Racer 88 Running Shoe
It seems that Jordan Brand is apparently celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 3 by releasing another brand new running shoe that it inspired by it. Although they are similar, compared to the Zoom Tenacity 88, the soles of the Racer 88 have been designed more specifically with performance in mind. Coincidentally, it is set to debut in the Air Jordan 3’s original “White Cement” colorway. Hence, it has predominantly clean White breathable uppers with Grey-colored cement print overlays around its ankles and toe boxes, while it also features some University Red-colored accents.
