For the most part of the 2017–18 NBA season, Kawhi Leonard has been out of action because of a quadriceps injury. As a result, there seems to be some fall out between him and his current team, the San Antonio Spurs. Reportedly, Kawhi has been “disconnected” and “distant” from his team. Considering that the tendiopathy in his right quadriceps has been lingering for quite some time now, the Spurs recently made an announcement about shutting down their small forward indefinitely. Nonetheless, it seems that the relationship between Jordan Bran and Kawhi Leonard is as strong as ever, which is evident from his brand new, exclusive Air Jordan 1.
This is actually not the first time that Kawhi Leonard has been spotted wearing an all-Gold Air Jordan sneaker and it is unlikely that this latest one will be joining upcoming Jordan releases 2018. Back in 2016 during the Holiday Season, Kawhi made an appearance sporting an all-Gold Air Jordan 11. Last year in September, he and Kendrick Lamar were in Miami attending the “DAMN” Tour stop. There he was seen laced up in another all-Gold sneaker, a never-before-seen Air Jordan 5 PE, which even featured Gold-colored laces. Of course, since they were Player Exclusives, neither of those two colorways ended up making their way to retailers.
Kawhi’s latest all-Gold sneaker from Jordan Brand looks even more eye-catching than those previous ones. This PE iteration of the Air Jordan 1 High features glimmering uppers because of the Metallic Gold hue that covers them entirely, including the Nike “Swoosh” on the sides. Adding a contrasting pop of color and making this colorway stand out, its Jordan “Wings” branding and laces are dressed up in bright Blue, matching the jeans that Kawhi is wearing in the above photo. Additionally, it also appears to be equipped with all-White-colored midsoles and icy, translucent outsoles. As mentioned, there is no point in expecting this sneaker to hit the shelves.
