Many sneakerheads probably know that A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is perhaps one of the most famous and popular Christmas-related stories. Many of the sneakerheads here must have even read the novella that Dickens wrote in 1843 or have at least heard of the story in some form or another. It means that they are probably also familiar with the three Ghosts of Christmas that visit Ebenezer Scrooge on the night before Christmas, i.e. Christmas Eve. One of the first ghosts that visited Scrooge was the Ghost of Christmas Past and apparently Nike has drawn inspiration from it for a special KD 11 Elite 4KB release.
On Christmas Eve, Ebenezer Scrooge is first visited by the ghost of Jacob Marley, his deceased partner, who informs him about the other three ghosts who will be visiting him. Eventually, the Ghost of Christmas past arrives in a peculiar childlike form with a head that glows brightly. Scrooge is then taken on a trip into the past by the spirit and he gets glimpses of all the previous Christmases from his earlier years. He is able to watch everyone but remains invisible to them. Seeing his childhood days, his time as an apprentice and the moment of his engagement makes Scrooge feel regretful.
Sneakerheads have likely already read about Nike’s 12 Soles Collection for the Holiday Season 2016. The KD 11 Elite 4KB colorway featured here, which is nicknamed after the mentioned character from A Christmas Carol, is also a part of the 12 Soles Collection. A bold and vivid Liquid Lime hue covers the flyknit uppers of the sneaker, which is perhaps a reference to the grinch-like nature of Ebenezer Scrooge. However, as its nickname suggests, the phantom- and skull-like face visible on its insoles is likely a representation of the Ghost of Christmas Past. Furthermore, its inner linings and the little Nike “Swoosh” logos featured on its heels are covered in Obsidian. The model’s signature four Red-colored stripes also appear at the back, while it is also equipped with icy translucent outsoles.
The fact that this KD 11 Elite 4KB is nicknamed “ Ghost Of Christmas Past” should probably give sneakerheads a hint of when they will be able to cop a pair. The Nike KD 11 Elite 4KB “Ghost Of Christmas Past” will hit the shelves on the same day Scrooge was visited by the three ghosts, i.e. Christmas Eve, December 24th, and it will retail for $220.
