Despite having a repaired knee at the moment, Kyrie Irving has been spending the past three weeks running around. Medical professionals have, to a certain unknown extent, cleared him to take part in the training camp and join his fellow Cleveland Cavaliers in workouts. In fact, even though his left kneecap is fractured, when he showed up for practice it seemed as if he was ready to play ball. The Cleveland Cavaliers Point Guard was wearing a never-before-seen Nike Kyrie 1 pair that may or may not hit the shelves for a public Nike release 2015.
Not so long ago, photos of another different Kyrie 1 rendition had popped up on the Internet and the pair seemed like something that could be created on NIKEiD. However, it turned out that the Nike Kyrie 1 colorway could not even be ordered on Nike.com. This “Uncle Drew” colorway of the Nike Kyrie 1 is actually a player exclusive and only two pairs of the sneaker are in existence currently. Apart from Kyrie Irving himself, the owner of the second pair is Instagram user @tmarkgotkickss, who is apparently a diehard fan of the Nike Kyrie 1 model. His sneaker collection includes every colorway of the Kyrie 1 that Nike has ever dropped, as well as some exclusive pairs and those he copped from NIKEiD. Apparently, Kyrie Irving himself noticed how much @tmarkgotkickss adores and loves his first Nike signature silhouette.
While the sneaker collection that @tmarkgotkickss currently owns is impressive enough. However, none of those sneakers could be as impressive as the Nike Kyrie 1 PE “Uncle Drew,” which consists of an upper dressed up entirely in white and sporting reflective accents all over, even on the laces. Some words are also printed on the Nike Swoosh logo and insides of the sneaker include custom made Uncle Drew insoles. As per the caption that @tmarkgotkickss posted along with the photos suggested he received the kicks directly from Kyrie himself.
As for the never-before-seen colorway that Kyrie Irving had laced up in for practice, which sports a maroon, navy and yellow color scheme that is likely inspired by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The thing about Kyrie’s sneaker that stands out the most is the slashing shapes and vectors that are a part of graphic featured on the heel, which has a lifestyle-like texture camouflaged through it.
The NBA season will soon be kicked off but it does not seem that Kyrie Irving will be able to join in on the action for a while. At least, sneakerheads can hope for the Nike release 2015 of this unknown colorway of the Nike Kyrie 1 that Kyrie himself was sporting during the Cavs Media Day.
