Kyrie Irving Might Represent Team USA In The Olympics Wearing This Kyrie 2

Based on the most recent announcement by the NBA, the US squad that will be playing in the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics will include Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson. The team will be made up of a total of 12 athletes from the NBA. The latest athlete to join the ranks and be named as a member is none other than Kyrie Irving.

Nike-Kyrie_2_USA-release-info-2Other prospective names included Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes, who like Klay Thompson are also from the Golden State Warriors. However, NBA’s first unanimous Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry had already dropped out.

Even the NBA Finals MVP LeBron James withdrew his name this June, claiming that he needs rest. Of course, it is understandable since he played a huge role in enabling the Cleveland Cavaliers to make a comeback despite the odds and defeat the Golden State Warriors to win the championship.

Nike-Kyrie_2_USA-release-info-3Unlike his team-mate, Kyrie has decided to represent Team USA in this year’s Summer Olympics. The United States has been winning the Olympic gold for the past two years and it is expected that Team USA will capture the gold once again, making it thrice in a row.

Nike-Kyrie_2_USA-release-info-4While the men’s Olympic tournament will officially begin on August 6th, there will also be five warm-up games prior to that in which Team USA, including Kyrie Irving, will be participating. However, while the 2016 Summer Olympics are still a month or so away, the 4th of July is almost here. With the U.S. Independence Day nearing, everyone was assuming that Nike would be dropping this patriotic-themed Kyrie 2 next month right before July 4th. However, this is apparently not the case.

Instead of before Independence Day, this Kyrie 2 will not arrive at retailers until later next month. The sneaker is dressed up in a combination of Blue, Red and White. Judging from the date it will hit the shelves on, it seems that Kyrie Irving might actually be rocking it during the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.

At least the retail debut of this USA-themed Kyrie 2 is scheduled for July 18th. However, retailers like Sneaker Politics already have pairs in stock, so this nike sneaker might actually be available on July 2nd as well.
