2018 has turned out to be the year in which the Air Jordan 1 has been heavily modified, which is something that Jordan Brand has refrained from doing until now. It all began when the “Reimagined” Collection joined this year’s Air Jordan releases 2018. One of the Air Jordan 1 variations from that collection was also equipped with straps. Three years ago though, Jordan Brand had already introduced the Air Jordan 1 High Strap and around the same time as the “Reimagined” Collection,” the Air Jordan 1 Double Strap had also debuted. Now, another brand new colorway of the Air Jordan 1 Double Strap will soon arrive at retailers.
Neither the Air Jordan 1 Lover from the “Reimagined” Collection nor the Air Jordan 1 Double Strap is the first rendition of the model to be equipped straps. The Air Jordan 1 High Strap was unveiled back in February 2015 and it featured removable ankle straps. Of course, the Air Jordan 1 Double Strap is the first to have two thick straps, both of which can be seen over the mid-foot of each shoe. Like the variations from the “Reimagined” Collection, the Air Jordan 1 Double Strap was also revealed to be a women’s exclusive. Hence, its midsoles were relatively thicker, giving it a platform shoe-feel and look.
The Air Jordan 1 Double Strap made its retail debut in a simple all-White and a Black and White colorway. The uppers of this upcoming iteration are similarly tonal, dressed up completely in a bright Red hue. The Jordan “Wings” logos are also tonal and White-colored “Nike Air” branding appears over the tonal tongue tabs. Last but not least, its thicker midsoles and its outsoles are both plain White. As of now, this brand new women’s Air Jordan 1 Double Strap colorway is available at select retailers in Japan. In the coming weeks, it will also join the upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018 arriving in the United States.
