Back in 1992, the world of NCAA basketball was taken by storm by the University of Michigan’s basketball athletes. These athletes were collectively known as the Fab Five, namely Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Jimmy King, Juwan Howard and Ray Jackson. Not only was the Fab Five one of the most influential teams in the history of the sport, they also established the trend of wearing black socks with some of Nike’s finest models, especially the Air Flight Huarache. The Air Flight Huarache is basically the basketball variation of the running Air Huarache model, which will soon make its way to retailers in a brand new colorway.
The Air Huarache line is one of Nike’s most ageless and enduring collections that had been initiated by Tinker Hatfield. It was back in 1991 when the Air Huarache had first been introduced, and based on the claims by the vintage advertisement copy; it really seems that the Air Huarache had been designed to be a basic and simple running shoe that would prove to be extremely lightweight. Even then, the Air Huarache can be regarded as one of Nike’s highest technological innovations. Despite Nike’s initial concerns that this model would not prove to be a success, the popularity of the Air Huarache has not waned even till today.
Even summer is gradually transitioning into fall, it seems that this brand new Nike Air Huarache colorway does not want the summer vibes to go away just yet. In fact, this new colorway appears to have quite the tropical aesthetics and vibes. The Air Huarache, which is quite an iconic running silhouette from Nike, is predominantly dressed up in Wolf Grey, while Bright White-colored accents can be spotted throughout, and both Aquatone and Purple Dynasty appear over the neoprene booties. As a result, this colorway tends to resemble classic “Grape” and “Hornets” colorways of Air Jordan and Nike sneakers. However, it will not be until Fall 2016 that this Nike Air Huarache “Aqua Neoprene” makes its retail debut.
