It was being speculated for years that Kevin Durant was fated to become a free agent, and it seems that he is ready to make the official announcement. The buzz had been building in NBA circles and the latest speculation was that KD could end up either with the Golden Stage Warriors or the Oklahoma City Thunder. While Kevin has had his fair share of the spotlight, especially over the past couple of weeks, but the latest model from his signature sneaker line is making headlines since it is among 2016’s nike releases. After just debuting, the KD 8 is arriving in another colorway.
The very first day of July marked the official retail debut of Kevin Durant’s ninth signature silhouette. Although the KD 9 did actually hit the shelves a day before on May 31st in a “Pre-Heat” colorway, the release was not as wide nor did Nike make an effort to market or promote it much. The KD 9 colorway that has recently arrived at retailers, and was up for grabs at a price of $150, was dressed up in a patriotic theme. The reason is that Kevin Durant, who chose to represent Team USA in the 2016 Summer Olympics instead of withdrawing his name, will be rocking a pair during the games.
On the other hand, this latest, upcoming colorway of the Nike KD 9 is dubbed “Mic Drop.” As far as its appearance is concerned, it does seem like this sneaker is featuring somewhat of an “Oreo” color scheme, although this iteration actually draws its inspiration from the fact that Kevin Durant loves music. The complex and intricate Flyknit uppers of these kicks sport a Black and White color blocking, while the Zoom Air bag that is incorporated into each sole is covered entirely in Black, to prevent it from getting dirty. Even though, technically the second rendition of Kevin Durant’s ninth signature model just became available, Nike is scheduled to drop this upcoming KD 9 “Mic Drop” on July 9th.
