The adidas Gazelle is one of the brand’s most prominent, classic low-top models. Perhaps that is why adidas launched a major PR campaign last year to promote the Gazelle, along with dropping quite a lot of retro colorways of the silhouette. The origins of the adidas Gazelle can be traced back to the brand’s training designs from the 1960s. The use of dyed suede instead of colored leather made the Gazelle appear considerably more vibrant than training shoes that came before it. Now in 2017, the adidas Gazelle seems to have received quite the luxurious treatment as it has arrived as a part of a “Crafted” Package.
The profile of the Gazelle, its “T” toe overlays, and how its signature White-colored stripes contrasted with its vibrant uppers, it was all quite innovative. adidas further innovated Gazelle when the second colorway was released, which featured transparent outsoles with a non-slip tread instead of its former micro-grip soles. Jean Khalifé, the footwear designer for adidas Originals completely reengineered the 2016 version of the Gazelle, which was also the latest. Even after the course of over 55 years, the adidas Gazelle are still perfect as an exercise and training shoe. Even Daniel Craig rocked the Gazelle in a James Bond film in a gym scene.
The “Crafted” Package featured here includes a deluxe and luxurious iteration of the Gazelle, which features deconstructed, one-piece, premium tanned suede uppers. C.F. Stead, one of the world’s most highly-esteemed artisan suede leather tanners, was the one who dyed and tanned the Navy-colored suede uppers of this sneaker. It also sports contrasting all-White tongues along with matching branding. The Gazelle “Crafted” is also equipped with leather sockliners feuatring C.F. Stead’s graphic and milky EVA midsoles. The sneaker will also come with tonal leather and nylon laces, while Metallic Gold-colored branding can be spotted over its heels and side panels.
According to the label on the box of this “Crafted” Package, it will also include a 250ml Premium Sneaker Cleaner, a Premium Cleaning Brush and a Premium Microfibre Cloth. The package will also include a 75ml Superhydrophobic Protecter, a Superhydrophobic Protecter and a Protecter Applicator Brush. Hence, this entire adidas Originals “Crafted” Package including the premium Gazelle iteration is going to cost $250 and should be available at select physical and online adidas retailers.
