December 1st is recognized World AIDS Day all around the globe and in order to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, RISE and PUMA decided to team up on a special Blaze for Glory iteration for this special cause. RISE is a New York-based sneaker boutique and they have collaborated with PUMA in the past as well, but this time they are using one of the finest running shoes produced by the Three Stripes. Chase Ceparano, the co-founder of RISE, lost his father to AIDS during his childhood, so the PUMA release 2015 of this RISE x PUMA Blaze of Glory New York Is For Lovers is quite meaningful to him.
The silhouette that PUMA chose for the Blaze of Glory is quite a clean one, which offers a snug fit and unique style thanks to the distinctive lace system that it is equipped with. Although this is one of the more popular shoe models that PUMA has produced, the upper does not feature the brand’s signature formstripe. The only thing that suggests that the Blaze of Glory is indeed a PUMA model is the fact that its heel sports a cat. Till today, one particular aspect that the Blaze of Glory has stayed true to is the fact it has often served as the base for innovative collaborations, which certainly rings true in the case of the RISE x PUMA Blaze of Glory New York.
As can be seen, the sneaker’s upper is dressed up in bright red, with one lace dubrare featuring “NYIFL” and the other featuring the AIDS ribbon. The sneaker includes special insoles since they are embossed, and the heels are covered with 3M detailing with heart cut-outs on top. Apart from the sales of the RISE x PUMA Blaze of Glory New York, once its PUMA release 2015 takes place on December 1st, another $15,000 will be donated to the American Foundation for AIDS Research by PUMA and RISE.
