Jordan Brand’s Retro Spring/Summer lineup of Air Jordan releases 2019 will include two different, brand new colorways of the Air Jordan 14. In recent times, Jordan Brand has not released as many Air Jordan 14 colorways as it used to in the past. Most recently, it arrived at retailers last year on June 14th, 2018 when it retailed at a price of $190 in the “Last Shot” colorway. Its nickname was a reference to that historic final shot that Michael Jordan scored during the 1998 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz, which secured the sixth NBA championship victory for the Chicago Bulls.
The Air Jordan 14 colorway you see above has apparently been officially nicknamed “Varsity Red” but is also being referred to as “Candy Cane.” This is actually a returning iteration since it originally made its retail debut back in 1999, although Michael Jordan never really laced up in it for an NBA game. Instead, it was Rip Hamilton who rocked a pair of this colorway during the 1999 NCAA Championship game between the Connecticut Huskies and the Duke Blue Devils. As you can see, it was plain White uppers with Black-colored accents, while its “Candy Cane” monicker is a reference to the Varsity Red-colored detailing.
While the “Candy Cane” colorway will soon be among this month’s upcomning Air Jordan releases 2019, another one will also hit the shelves in the coming months. As you may know, the Air Jordan 14’s design was inspired by Michael Jordan’s Ferrari 550M, and Red and Yellow happen to two of Ferrari’s signature colors. Of course, Jordan Brand released a Red-colored Air Jordan 14 Retro “Ferrari” colorway in September 14. The Air Jordan 14 “Reverse Ferrari” seen above can be regarded as its successor. The Black and University Gold color scheme of this iteration draws inspiration from the exterior and leather upholstery of the Giallo Modena Ferrari 458 Italia.

You may or may not recall but Jordan Brand teased the Air Jordan 14 “Black Toe” alongside the Air Jordan 14 “Thunder” back in January 2014. Later that month in June, sneakerheads got a proper, more detailed first look at the sneaker in June that year. By September, even Jordan Brand had unveiled official photos and it wound up becoming one of the most highly anticipated releases of that month, eventually making its retail debut on September 20th. The colorway is not returning to join this year’s Air Jordan release 2018. However, Jordan Brand seems to have whipped up a variation with the addition of a new hue. Packs containing multiple sneakers have become rather common in the world of sneakers. Merely in 2014, four such packs containing both Jordan Brand and Nike sneakers had hit the shelves, including the Ultimate Gift of Flight Pack that had a whopping retail value of $500. However, the origin of such packs can be traced back to the Defining Moments Pack from 2006. Jordan Brand crafted their very first multi-sneaker pack in honor of the kicks that Michael Jordan wore during the first of his two three-peat championships. Jordan Brand has finally published photos of 2017’s Defining Moments Pack, which includes an Air Jordan 13 and Air Jordan 14. Just a day before the NCAA Track & Field Championship was scheduled to take place in Eugene last year on June 9th, 2016, Jordan Brand had provided special Air Jordan 14 PE pairs to the Oregon Ducks. That special edition iteration had been designed exclusively for the Oregon Ducks’ track and field team. The Oregon Ducks had managed to make it to leaderboard in the women’s division but not in the men’s division. The men’s division leaderboard consisted of Arkansas, Florida and Texas. This year, it seems that Jordan Brand has whipped up a similar-looking Air Jordan 14 PE for the Oregon Ducks basketball team. Drake hosted his annual OVO hip-hop festival for the seventh time this year. The OVO Festival 2016 took place at the Echo Beach in Toronto on July 30 and it opened up with a Caribbean music concert that featured dancehall and soca artists. The concert being a part of OVO Fest is not out of the ordinary since it is taking place during the Caribbean Carnival festival in Toronto. Along with hosting the OVO Festival 2016, Drake was also in attendance at his OVO Basketball Tournament. It was there that he was spotted laced up in the Air Jordan 14 PE “Oregon.” Continue reading Drake Rocked The Air Jordan 14 PE “Oregon” At His OVO Basketball Tournament
Very few original colorways of the Air Jordan 14 from back in 1998 and 1999 have never been retroed in modern times, unlike those of other Air Jordan models. In fact, the Air Jordan 14 does not even hit the shelves as frequently as other Air Jordan silhouettes, but that will change. It was in December 2015 when rumors began circulating that two Air Jordan 14 OG colorways would be among the Air Jordan releases 2016. Those two colorways turned out to be the “Indiglo” and “Oxidized Green,” and the very first photos of the former are now available, courtesy of Sneaker Bar Detroit (SBD).
