Alongside upcoming adidas and Air Jordan releases 2019, Nike will release this special SB Dunk High dubbed “Dog Walker” on April 20th, 2019. Unless you are an active participant in cannabis culture, perhaps you are not familiar with the term 420 or the significance of April 20th (4/20). “420” is essentially slang for the consumption of cannabis or marijuana and today, April 20th is celebrated within the cannabis culture as 420 or Weed Day. Some have even claimed that “420” is a police code used when approaching someone smoking marijuana. However, even a lot of cannabis smokers do not know how 420 and April 20 became associated with weed.
The adidas and Air Jordan releases arriving later this year will include this collaboratively designed Wacko Maria x Nike SB Stefan Janoski. It is the first time that Nike has collaborated with the Japanese streetwear brand. This year, Jordan Brand has released some rather unique iterations of the low-cut, skateboarding sneaker. It all started with a camo-covered iteration and another mid-top variation with fuzzy suede uppers, both of which debuted arrived at retailers in February. A “Golden Beige” and a “Multicolor” iteration hit the shelves last month. More recently, Jordan Brand also released a Premium “Desert Camo” iteration of the SB Stefan Janoski earlier this month.
One of the upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018 is going to be a part of the recently unveiled Nike x Doernbecher Freestyle 2018 Collection. Jordan Brand and Nike have a long-standing annual tradition of collaborating with the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital since back in 2007. Every year, some of the young patients at the hospital are selected to design specific Air Jordan and Nike sneaker models to be a part of the annual Doernbecher Collection. Nike recently unveiled the Doernbecher Freestyle 2018 Collection, along with the names and photos of the children involved. The collection contains an Air Jordan and several Nike sneaker models.
Between the mid and late 1990s, the feud between America’s East Coast and West Coast hip hop scenes was on the rise, and at the forefront of this rivalry were Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. Coincidentally, both Biggie and Tupac were fatally shot in drive-by shootings. 20+ years after both their deaths, Nike has drawn inspiration from the East Coast–West Coast hip hop rivalry for this SB “Biggie vs. Tupac” Pack, which includes two different models inspired by the two rappers.
