Alongside upcoming Air Jordan releases 2019, Nike will be dropping the LeBron 3 “Home,” which is actually an OG colorway from 2005. You might be wondering how this could be an original colorway considering that the LeBron 3 just made its retail debut last year in the “Christ The King” colorway, but that is only partially true. With the exception of the “China Edition,” the “Home” colorway was actually the debut iteration of the Zoom LeBron III. It originally hit the shelves on November 12th, 2005 and retailed at a price of $125. The LeBron 3 can be regarded as a modern day reincarnation of the Zoom LeBron III.
The Zoom LeBron III was an extremely stable basketball sneaker as it was equipped with carbon-fiber shanks that were paired with a Pebax shell “foot-bucket” in each shoe. The Pebax shell also offered support to and reinforced its almost full-length Zoom Air unit, so even heavier basketball players could comfortably and securely play in it. Its exterior straps were not completely stitched, so the sneaker moved according to the wearer’s feet. Last but not least, its traction was even better than its predecessor due to the deep, longitudinal grooves in its rubber outsoles. The LeBron 3 is essentially the same sneaker, but more of a revived version.
The Nike LeBron 3 “Home” looks exactly like the original. Its leather uppers are still dressed up in the same Black and White combination. Namely, Black covers the upper half, the inner lining, laces and tongues with the “Lion Head” logo, while the lower half is plain White. Black can also be spotted around the heels and toeboxes, and over Nike “Swoosh logos and the little badge that features LeBron James’ branding. The only different between the original and this year’s version is the shade of red used. Instead of Varsity Red, the entire Zoom Air unit of each shoe is covered in Varsity Crimson, which is brighter.
