Select Nike+ Users Will Gain Early Access To The Jordan 16 “Midnight Navy”

It was back in 2006 when Nike had announced the Nike+iPod Sport Kit. Some constructively criticized the advanced iPod fitness system, some were excited about it, while others felt skeptical about it. The system was designed to enable Nike shoes to wirelessly communicate with Apple’s iPod Nanos. This concept was somewhat already existing in the form of digital calorie and pedometer counters, but it seemed that Apple and Nike would take it a long way. The kit eventually became available on July 13, 2006. It seems that sneakerheads with a Nike+ account are once again receiving early access, this time to the Air Jordan 16Midnight Navy.”

This kit includes a tiny adapter that can be attached to any iPod Nano and a tiny pedometer medallion that is meant to be placed inside a shoe. Nike recommends that this kit be used with special Nike+ running shoes that actually contain a special pocket for the medallion. The pedometer communicates wireless with the adapter that is attached to the iPod Nano, keep track of the wearer’s steps and more. Then, statistics like calories burned, distance covered, pace and time elapsed are recorded and displayed by the Nano in almost real time.
