Dominic Chambrone, who is better known within the sneaker community as “The Shoe Surgeon,” really surpassed his previous creations with his latest custom, an Air Jordan 1. The famed sneaker customizer designed this custom Air Jordan 1 back in January 2017 and though he has worked on the Air Jordan 1 before, this particular custom creation was exceptional. Dominic actually recruited artist Gillean Clark to laser print his artwork onto the vegetable-tanned leather uppers of the sneaker, which also featured Red- and White-colored detailing. The Shoe Surgeon seems to have worked on the Air Jordan 1 again, this time designing a premium variation of the model’s recent “Top 3” colorway.
Along with being a sneaker customizer, The Shoe Surgeon also happens to be an artist and craftsman. In addition to footwear, he has also designed custom items like boxes and deluxe champagne bottles. During the recent press conference that DJ Khaled held to announce his tenth studio album “Grateful,” Dominic presented him with a custom Air Jordan 1 pair. Additionally, the sneaker was contained inside a custom box also designed by him. Furthermore, both the sneaker and its box both featured 18 carat gold accents, including a metal emblem. DJ Khaled, who is an avid sneakerhead himself, definitely look grateful for receiving this special gift from The Shoe Surgeon.
Sneakerheads likely recall the Air Jordan 1 “Top 3” that made its retail debut on November 28th, 2016. It combined portions of three of the most iconic OG colorways of the model, namely the “Bred,” “Chicago” and the returning “Royal” iterations. With his custom variation, The Shoe Surgeon has taken things even further by giving the uppers a luxurious makeover with the use of faux alligator and crocodile leather. The color scheme remains the same, but its laces seem to have metallic Gold-colored tips and of course, its tongues feature The Shoe Surgeon branding.
The Air Jordan 1 OG “Top 3” went up on retail last year at a price of $160 and it is uncertain if more pairs of the sneaker are still available. However, one thing is for certain that The Shoe Surgeon’s custom Air Jordan 1 “Top 3” variation that is featured here will not be hitting the shelves.
