It has been officially confirmed that the Air Jordan 4 “Bred” is indeed returning and will be among next month’s Air Jordan releases 2019. Rumors that the Air Jordan 4 “Bred” would be making a comeback began circulating as far back as June 2018. Of course, release information was scarce and a couple of sources reported that it would hit the shelves at some point in April 2019, which is certainly not the case as everyone likely knows by now. Considering though that the Air Jordan 4 “Bred” is definitely returning during the first week of next month, it is about time Jordan Brand officially unveiled this year’s version.
For its 30th anniversary, a brand new GS colorway of the Air Jordan 4 dubbed “Monsoon Blue” just joined this month’s Air Jordan releases 2019. As you may already know by now, it really has been thirty years since the Air Jordan 4 debuted back in 1989. Earlier last month, shortly before NCAA March Madness, Jordan Brand unveiled a college PE Collection consist of six different collegiate PE colorways of the both the Air Jordan 4 and the Jordan Why Not Zer0.2. As for GS colorways of the Air Jordan 4, Jordan Brand released a number of them too between January and February 2019.
In celebration of its 30th anniversary, next month’s Air Jordan releases 2019 will mark the return of the original Air Jordan 4 “Bred.” Apart from a two-year, post-second retirement stint with the Washington Wizards, Michael Jordan played as a member of the Chicago Bulls for a majority of his NBA career. Drawing inspiration from the color scheme of the Chicago Bulls, Jordan Brand designed the “Bred” (Black and Red) colorway for the Air Jordan 1, which has also become known as the “Banned” colorway. Consequently, several of the Air Jordan models that Jordan Brand introduced after 1985, including the Air Jordan 4, were released in a “Bred” colorway.
It seems that one of this year’s foremost Air Jordan releases 2019 for Black Friday is going to be a “What The” colorway of the Air Jordan 4. As of lately, sneakerheads have been annually looking forward to Thanksgiving week and this year will be no different. For Black Friday last year, Jordan Brand released three different sneakers. The Black Friday 2018 release included the Air Jordan 11 WMNS “Neutral Olive,” the Air Jordan 12 “Gym Red” and the Union x Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG. For its 30th anniversary, the Air Jordan 4 with the “What The” treatment will be the center of attention on Black Friday.
Amidst all the Air Jordan releases 2018 that arrived in December, the Oklahoma Sooners football team received a new Air Jordan 4 PE colorway. Back in November 2017, the Oklahoma Sooners made an announcement revealing that they were officially a Jordan Brand-sponsored football team. At the time, the Michigan Wolverines and the North Carolina Tar Heels were already representing Jordan Brand on the gridiron. Around the same time, the Florida Gators had also become a part of the Jordan Brand family. Earlier this year, the Oklahoma Sooners received a complete Air Jordan PE Collection, and now they have received a brand new PE colorway of the Air Jordan 4.
The “White/Cement” colorway is returning as a part of upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018, but on a different, brand new sneaker model. As you likely know already, the “White/Cement” happens to be the iconic, original colorway of the Air Jordan 4 that made its retail debut back in 1989. The same year, Spike Lee wore it in his comedy–drama film, Do The Right Thing. It has also been re-released in retro form twice, once in 1999 and more recently in 2016, the latter resembling the OG more closely. This year it seems, the “White/Cement” colorway will be appearing on the successor to the Jordan 88 Racer.
