This Air Jordan 7 PE Commemorates Ray Allen’s 1996 NBA Draft Pick

Jordan Brand’s Summer lineup of Air Jordan releases 2019 will include this Air Jordan 7 PE inspired by Ray Allen’s 1996 NBA Draft selection. The 1996 NBA Draft is regarded as the greatest one in the history of the league. The 1996 Draft features some of the talented players of NBA history. Much like the 1986 NBA Draft introduced the world to the legendary Michael Jordan; the 1996 Draft brought the iconic Ray Allen to the forefront. This year actually marks the 23rd anniversary of the 1996 NBA Draft. Jordan Brand is celebrating the occasion by releasing this Air Jordan 7 “Ray Allen” PE.

The 1996 NBA Draft took place on June 26th that year. It was the Minnesota Timberwolves who drafted Ray Allen as the fifth pick that year, but soon after, they him along with Andrew Lang to the Milwaukee Bucks. It was not until November 1st that year that Ray played in his first game against the Philadelphia 76ers and ever since, he has proven to be one of the most consistent players in the NBA. From his very first game, he knew what he was doing. In addition to being a recent hall of famer, he is a one-time NBA Champion and a nine-time All-Star.

Although, technically it was the Minnesota Timberwolves that drafted Ray Allen, he began his professional basketball career in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks. Hence, this Air Jordan 7 PE iteration nicknamed after him draws inspiration from the color scheme of his former team’s 1996 uniforms. Additionally, this iteration is also inspired by actual PE pairs that Ray laced up in around that time. Hence, the uppers of this Air Jordan 7 iteration are mostly dressed up in Black, with Dark Steel Grey- and Fierce Purple-colored accents, and Ray Allen’s signature on the insoles. This PE will be among the Air Jordan releases 2019 this summer in June.

Jordan Brand Is Releasing A Trio Of “Reflective” Colorways This Summer

Jordan Brand’s three upcoming Air Jordan releases are “Reflective” varitions of OG colorways from the Bulls’ first championship three-peat. Starting with the Air Jordan 6 that you can see above, you may have recognized that this “Reflective” is using the OG “Infared” colorway as its base. At the time when the Air Jordan 6 was introduced and Michael Jordan laced up in it, he was on his way towards leading the Chicago Bulls to their first NBA Championship victory. Instead of nearly all-Black, its uppers are now completely reflective. Black still appears over the heels, laces, midsoles and tongues, and the Infrared-colored accents are the same as the original.

Michael Jordan rocked the Air Jordan 7 in 1992, the year in which the Chicago Bulls won their second consecutive NBA Championship. This second Reflective iteration is a variation of the “Cardinal” colorway iteration, which was one of the five colorways from 1992. The Air Jordan 7 OG “Cardinal” was eventually re-released twice after that, once in 2006 and then in 2011. Once again, when compared to the original, 3M reflective material has replaced the plain White uppers. However, the Red-, Gold- and White-colored detailing, including the embroidered “Jumpman” logo, can still be spotted. Moreover, its soles are similarly covered in Black, almost entirely.

Last but not least, the third “Reflective” iteration that will be joining this summer’s Air Jordan releases 2019 will be that of the Air Jordan 8. More specifically, it is essentially the Air Jordan 8 “Bugs Bunny” but 3M reflective uppers instead of plain White ones. The OG “Bugs Bunny” colorway of the Air Jordan 8 made its retail debut back on April 20th, 2013 at a price of $160. Apart from the reflective uppers, this variation still features the same color blocking and detailing, which includes Black-, Grey- and True Red-colored accents. Even the chenille “Jumpman” logo on its tongues sports the same color scheme.

This Air Jordan 7 Is Inspired By Ray Allen’s Milwaukee Bucks Career

An Air Jordan 7Bucks” paying tribute to Ray Allen’s early career was among some of last month’s final Air Jordan releases 2019. Nike’s “Art Of A Champion” collection from last year included an Air Jordan 28 colorway that was dubbed “Locked and Loaded.” This particular colorway drew inspiration from and was a nod to the historic three-point field goal that Ray Allen scored during the 2013 NBA Finals, which tied the game and enabled the Miami Heat to eventually win. Following his NBA draft, Ray Allen had been traded to the Milwaukee Bucks and the Air Jordan 7 featured here is inspired by that period of his career.
