One of the upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018 will make its retail debut next month during the 2018 Art Basel. The week of the annual Art Basel is known to create a lot buzz in the city of Basel in Switzerland. This four-day event celebrates artistic talent, creativity and talent, and prominent figures from the art world attend it every year. This year marks the 49th annual edition of Art Basel, which is scheduled to run from December 6th to 9th, 2018. Jordan Brand and SoleFly have also teamed to design something ‘artistic’ in the form of an Air Jordan 1 rendition, which will be released during Art Basel.
The recent, untimely demise of Jose Fernandez has completely altered the entire scenario for the Miami Marlins as they head into the 2016 MLB playoffs. The Marlins had already been coming to terms with a rather disappointing season and then this tragedy struck. Consequently, the Marlins had to cancel their Sunday’s game and right before Monday’s game, they held a ceremony in honor of Jose. Even Jose’s No. 16 has been officially retired. It is quite a coincidence that not too long ago, it was revealed that Jordan Brand’s and SoleFly’s latest collaboration would be inspired by the 1997 World Series that the Marlins had participated in. During the MLB’s 1997 World Series, the Miami Marlins had the lead in Game 1, eventually becoming victorious with a score of 7-4. However, they were not able to be triumphant in Game 2, when the Series had been evened out by the Cleveland Indians who scored 6-1 against the Marlins. In Game 3, the Marlins and the Indians had been tied at one point, but the Marlins eventually managed to get the upper hand, winning with a score of 14-11. Coincidentally, SoleFly is also in Miami and apparently the footwear boutique might be collaborating with Jordan Brand in commemoration of the upcoming MLB Playoffs 2016. Last year, most of the people in Miami Beach had arrived at 18433 S Dixie Hwy, Cutler Bay in order to attend the grand opening of the latest SoleFly Sneaker Boutique. While Michael Jordan also attended the boutique’s grand opening, another legendary figure hailing from Miami was also honored at the location. Trick Daddy, Liberty City’s famous actor, producer and rapper, was also present in the building and SoleFly paid tribute to him by presenting with a custom Nike Air Force 1 Low pair. Back in December 2015, a second SoleFly retail location was opened up by Carlos Prieto. Despite the fact that the Art Basel festivities was going on, people had gathered outside the shop a day before its opening and waited outside, even though it had been raining. In support of the new location’s official opening, even Michael Jordan was present there along with plenty of other prominent figures.
