In addition to upcoming Air Jordan releases 2019, Jordan Brand designed an Air Jordan 3 for Spike Lee‘s Oscar win at the Academy Awards. The 91st Academy Awards ceremony recently took place on February 25th, 2019 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. BlacKkKlansman, Spike Lee’s biographical crime film, was nominated for six Academy Awards, namely for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Picture, and Best Supporting Actor. Spike Lee actually ended up winning the Best Adapted Screenplay award for the film. Spike Lee walked onstage as the crowd thunderously applauded and was greeted by Samuel L. Jackson.
Spike Lee Received A Special Air Jordan 6 “Oscars” PE Back In 2016
Spike Lee could have actually worn a special Air Jordan pair to the 88th Academy Awards that took place on February 28th, 2016 in Hollywood, Los Angeles at the Dolby Theatre. For his contributions to the film industry, he was to be given an honorary Oscar award and Jordan Brand congratulated him by sending him a special Air Jordan 6 iteration. However, due to the lack of racial diversity in the nominations, Spike Lee decided to boycott the Academy Awards that year. Nonetheless, the Air Jordan 6 pair he received itself looked like an Oscar award because its uppers were completely dressed up in Metallic Gold.
Spike Lee Was Laced Up In An Air Jordan 3 Pair On The Red Carpet
When it comes to red carpet events, Spike Lee has a tradition of attending those wearing special Air Jordan and Nike pairs. These have included the an Air Jordan 1 High Zip, an Air Jordan 1 Rebel XX “Top 3,” an Air Trainer 1 Mid, and an OFF–WHITE x Nike Air Presto “White.” As for his newest custom Air Jordan 3 pair, it is predominantly dressed up in an Oscar award-like Gold hue with Black-, Red– and White-colored detailing. The right heel also features the logo of Spike Lee’s “40 Acres And A Mule” production company. Of course, this PE will not be joining upcoming Air Jordan releases 2019.
