Over the past 15 years, some of the most illustrious talent of the sport of basketball, such as Blake Griffin, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Jabari Parker, have been showcased at the Jordan Brand Classic. Like every year, the event was held once again this Friday on April 15th for the 15th time at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. 40 basketball athletes from more than twenty countries participated in the event, which included both male and female players. As an effort to commemorate the event, Jordan Brand even introduced a Jordan Brand Classic 2016 Collection consisting of special Player Exclusive colorways.
This year’s Jordan Brand Classic kicked off with the International Game, which was followed by three other games. These were the women’s game, then the Regional boys game and finally the highlight of the event, the men’s game. At the same time, another occurrence that took place in celebration of the event itself was that Jordan Brand also launched their very own pop-up store at 166 Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. The game was only open to sneakerheads who were members of Nike+ and it was opened once again in honor of NYC’s basketball culture, offering the best of what the Jumpman have to offer.
So far, it seems that Jordanheads will also not be able to get their hands on the sneakers from the Jordan Brand Classic 2016 Collection. The highlights of the collection are the two Air Jordan 30 colorways. These two Air Jordan 30 iterations were designed as Player Exclusives for the male and female athletes of the East and West national basketball teams. One features a red and white color combination, while the other sports a blue and white color scheme and both are dressed up in cosmos graphics while the tongues feature the Jordan Brand Classic branding.
The Jordan Brand Classic 2016 Collection also includes an Air Jordan 9, two Jordan Ultra.Fly renditions, and an Jordan Flight Runner ST. Unfortunately, there is no news whether any of the sneakers will arrive at retailers any time soon during this year.
