The KD 8 “What The” Could Be The Final Colorway Of The Model

Kevin Durant’s eighth signature Nike sneaker model officially made its retail debut back in late June 2015 in a “USA” colorway. Soon after, Nike dropped the silhouette in some famous colorways for the summer that drew inspiration from Kevin Durant’s 2014 MVP speech and his training routine of running up and down Hunt’s Hill in California. Thus, Nike has been dropping KD 8 colorways for almost a year or so now, but with the next model in Kevin Durant’s signature line already having been unveiled, it might be time to bid farewell to the KD 8. The KD 8 “What The” could be the final iteration of the silhouette.

nike-what-the-kd-8-release-date-june-18th-01It was actually back in March when the KD 9 was introduced as the Nike Air Zoom KD 9. Leo Chang is the one who designed the model, drawing inspiration from how impressively Kevin Durant covers the court and how versatile he happens to be. As a result, the silhouette is comfortable, responsive and supportive, which he achieved by combining Nike Flyknit with Zoom Air. Kevin Durant is even scheduled to wear a Red and White colorway of the KD 9 for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. So, if Nike will be focusing all their attention on the KD 9, then the KD 8 will likely not be making frequent appearances anymore.

Kevin Durant came very close to making his way to the NBA Finals for the second time and he would have if the Oklahoma City Thunder was not astonishingly defeated by the Golden State Warriors. Hopefully, his free agency decision will not be affected by this, but that is yet to be seen. For the time being, it seems that the KD 8 might be taking the back seat and it heads out of the scene by receiving the “What The” treatment. Hence, the sneaker’s uppers appear so mixed and matched with baseball-ike stitches, polka dots and woven side panels.
