Merely 12 hours after Kobe Bryant officially retired on April 13 in victorious game in which he scored 60 points, Nike decided to pay homage to Kobe Bryant with a brand new collection involving the Kobe 11. There is no doubt that the Kobe 11 “Black Mamba” had taken the sneaker community by storm, but Nike took all that hype a step further with a new “Muse” Pack that comprises of three Kobe 11 colorways. In a video, Kobe Bryant himself revealed that the pack draws inspiration from his longstanding bond with Eric Avar, Mark Parker and Tinker Hatfield.
As sneakerheads reading this may have already guessed, each of the three Kobe 11 iterations from this “Muse” Pack has been designed by each of Nike’s three most influential figures mentioned above. The three of them are regarded as the brand’s iconic design pioneers, while Mark Parker also holds the distinction of being Nike’s current CEO and President. The renditions created by Eric Avar and Tinker Hatfield have even made their retail debut. Eric’s Blue-colored edition is inspired by the “El Capitan” rock formation from the Yosemite National Park, while Tinker’s somewhat “Bred” version is inspired by Michael Jordan.
The remaining colorway that is also set to arrive at retailers in a few days is obvious the one that Mark Parker whipped up. Just recently, Nike even published further official photos of the iteration. It may not seem so from the color scheme itself, but the inspiration behind this rendition comes from Kobe’s “Black Mamba” nickname. The woven uppers of this sneaker are predominantly dressed up in a combination of Black and Blue Lagoon, while the tongue’s lining appears to be covered in Red. The Black Mamba-aesthetic truly takes life as a result of the reptilian, snake-like detailing that is also featured throughout. Lastly, this sneaker also sports plain white Nike Swooshes and similar full-length Zoom sole units.
Considering that the Kobe 11 “Eric Avar Muse” and “Tinker Hatfield Muse” hit the shelves quite a while ago, sneakerheads likely already know that the retail price for each of them is the same, i.e. $200. All they need to do now is wait just a couple of more days until the Kobe 11 “Mark Parker Muse” from the “Muse” Pack also becomes available on May 26th.
