It was years ago that Kanye West broke off his ties with Nike and his loyalty has remained pledged to adidas ever since. However, this obvious fact has not hindered the Swoosh from dropping a plethora of sneakers that have Yeezy-inspired in one way or another. Perhaps it is a tactic of winning the favor of Yeezy fans and encouraging them to cop more Nike sneakers instead of those by the Three Stripes. No wonder, prior to the recent Nike release 2016 of the Air Foamposite Pro “Pure Platinum,” many sneakerheads were referring to it as the “Yeezy Solar.”
In fact, the Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Pure Platinum” is still being referred to as the “Yeezy Solar,” which somewhat makes sense. This “Pro Platinum” iteration of Air Foamposite Pro is inspired by Nike’s Air Yeezy 2 and this is not the first time that it has served as a source of inspiration. In the not so distant past, Nike had also dropped the “Red October” and “Solar Red” renditions of the Air Foamposite Pro, which were also inspired by the Air Yeezy 2. Hence, the release of this Air Foamposite Pro “Pure Platinum” or “Yeezy Solar” completes the trilogy.
The “Pure Platinum” nickname of this sneaker probably refers to its foam shell upper and even its laces, which are completely dressed up in Wolf Grey. The “Yeezy Solar” like hints to the Bright Crimson hue that makes an appearance over the inner lining and the tongue in the form of accents. However, the feature that really makes this Air Foamposite Pro rendition stand out the most is definitely its outsole that will glow in the dark.
It is true that it had been announced that the Nike release 2016 of this sneaker would be taking place on March 12th but that did not end up happening. Rather, the Swoosh decided to drop the Air Foamposite Pro “Pure Platinum” / “Yeezy Solar” slightly earlier and so it retailed for $250 on March 4.
