There are plenty of reasons why sneakerheads should be feeling excited about this year’s Quai 54 World Streetball Championship that takes place in Paris. Counting the one-year hiatus in between, 2016 marks the 13th time that the Jordan Brand-sponsored global streetball tournament will be held in Paris, France and over 200 streetballers will be participating. In fact, some of the finest streetball players in the world take part in this tournament in order to showcase their skills. Apart from sponsoring the tournament, Jordan Brand has also teamed up with Nike Basketball for the release of a 2016 Quai 54 Collection that includes brand new Kobe 11 iteration.
Quai 54 is a single elimination tournament that will not only feature professional players from Africa, Europe and USA. Additionally, it will also host distinguished streetballers like Dusan Bulut, the three-on-three world champion from Serbia, and even dunk contest contestants known for their incredible jumping abilities. At the same time, unknown players are also expected to pose as competition to the veterans of the tournament during this year’s Quai 54. For sneakerheads at least, specifically those in Europe, the tournament is likely as important as the kicks that Jordan Brand and Nike sneakers will collectively drop in celebration of it.
Courtesy of basket4ballers.com, there are now more, new and detailed photos of the Nike Kobe 11 “Quai 54” providing sneakerheads a better chance to see what the sneaker actually looks like. The color sceme of the sneaker appears to be effective yet subtle. The uppers of this sneaker are made of breathable mesh, which is plain White. Since it is a two-tone sneaker, Black detailing can also be spotted over the full-length sole units, inner linings, laces and tongues. Adding a touch of elegance, Metallic Gold is also featured on the sheath branding preset on the tongues, the signature that can be spotted over the heels and the little Nike Swoosh logos that are visible on the forefoot of each shoe.
So far, there is no news regarding whether this sneaker might also hit the shelves stateside. As for overseas sneakerheads, they will be able to cop a pair of the limited Nike Kobe 11 “Quai 54” when it arrives at select retailers throughout Europe and elsewhere on July 9th.
