In commemoration of the Independence Day of the United States, the Kyrie 1 received some patriotic treatment this summer in the form of the colorful “USA,” which featured an American flag-themed motif. Many sneakerheads probably even consider Kyrie Irving a red-blooded American, but the fact of the matter is that he was not born in the United States. The upcoming colorway of the Kyrie 1 that Nike Basketball has dubbed “Australia,” not only highlights this fact but also drops an obvious hint about Kyrie Irving’s place of birth for those who may not know.
The latest iteration of the very first Kyrie Irving is actually a reference to the fact that Australia is where Kyrie Irving was born and spent the first two years of his life. Kyrie Irving does not cease to impressive and make it obvious that he is the future of the NBA, which also makes him the future of Nike Basketball. In every Playoff game that he has participated in, he has ended up taking his NBA Career to a whole new level. In the past, the all-star Point guard of the Cleveland Cavaliers had never made it to the postseason. However, as a result of Kyrie Irving’s recent endeavors as well as the return of LeBron James and Kevin Love trading into Cleveland, the Cavaliers have become favorites in the NBA.
Perhaps this is why Nike Basketball decided to whip up this particular rendition of the Kyrie 1 as a nod to Kyrie Irving’s Australian roots. The upper of the sneaker features a various shades of green, including Green Strike, Radiant Emerald, Teal and Volt, which can also be spotted on the accents, Kevin Irving logo, midsole, Nike Swoosh and outsole. On the other hand, the textured heel of this colorway is covered in a bronze-like hue.
Many sneakerheads probably feel that Australia-inspired iteration of the Kyrie 1 resembled the “Kyrie Irving” PE version of the Nike Hyperdunk 2013, which actually a fact. So, those who wished they could have copped the PE sneaker can now mark August 26th amongst the other August 2015 Nike release dates on their calendar, since they can instead grab a pair of the Kyrie 1 “Australia” for $110.
