Shooting hoops in the driveway of their home is a very common pastime for many children, and even adults, and the same was the case with young Kyrie Irving as well. Before he became a professional basketball player, Kyrie would also shoot hoops in the driveway of his home until the sun would go down. At this point, his father would back up the car till the edge of the driveway and turn on the lights so that his son could continue honing his skills until dinnertime. The latest Nike release 2015 of the Kyrie 1 draws inspiration from Kyrie’s nighttime hobby of shooting hoops in the driveway.
It has probably become quite obvious to sneakerheads that Kyrie Irving had grown fond of and interested in the sport of basketball at a young age. Before Kyrie started playing in NBA arenas, his own driveway was his court and even the sun going down could not stop young Kyrie from practicing and enjoying late night basketball. Only the call for dinner would make young Kyrie take his basketball and head indoors to have the last meal of the day. Apparently, it is this late night ritual that Kyrie Irving followed during the earlier years of his life, which inspired this upcoming “Driveway” colorway of his signature Nike sneaker model.
The Nike Kyrie 1 “Driveway” colorway features the signature Hyperfuse construction of Kyrie Irving’s fist signature model, and it is dressed up in an ominous, sleek black hue. This sneaker also sports Green Glow accents throughout, specifically in the form of the branding. Inspired by the automobile headlights that Kyrie’s father would turn on during his nighttime practice, the Nike Swoosh logos spread across the side panels are covered in Reflect Silver and it will glow in the dark.
For sneakerheads who can relate to Kyrie Irving as far as shooting hoops in the driveway goes, this Nike Kyrie 1 “Driveway” is definitely a must cop. Regardless, the sneaker itself is quite dope and great it is already available for a price of $110 on Nike.com since it made its retail debut on September 17.
