The brand new 2015–16 NBA season has commenced and many of Nike endorsed NBA athletes are aiming to score a championship victory this season. Hence, it is not surprising that the Swoosh decided to commemorate the occasion with the Nike release 2015 an “Opening Night” Collection that will includes special colorways of their leading signature athletic shoes. LeBron James is also striving to win the NBA title this season for his team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, since they came up short in the Finals last year in the game versus the Golden State Warriors. Of course, Nike’s “Opening Night” Collection would not be complete without a LeBron 13.
While the Nike LeBron 13 iteration from the collection is obviously dubbed “Opening Night,” it is also being referred to as the “Fine Wine” colorway. Perhaps the fact that the color scheme of this rendition is inspired by the Cleveland Cavaliers will encourage and motivate LeBron to perform like an MVP, which is what he will need to do if he wishes to claim that NBA title. At the same time, the performance of Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving will matter as well, since they are two key members of the team. King James was even spotted wearing the LeBron 13 “Opening Night” during the Cavaliers’ first game of the season against the Chicago Bulls, managing to score a victory.
Taking inspiration from the official team colors of the Cleveland Cavaliers, this LeBron 13 rendition sports a wine-colored upper, while the heel and tongue feature subtle cork accents. Further evidence of its Cleveland Cavaliers-inspiration can be spotted in the form of the wine label-like graphic that is visible on the sockliner, while the pull tab is adorned with wax detailing that adds the finish touch.
The Nike release 2015 of the “Opening Night” Pack has taken place on November 11th. Obviously, the Nike LeBron 13 “Fine Wine” or “Opening Night” has hit the shelves too at Nike Basketball retail stores and is retailing for $200.
